Review of Red vs. Blue Season 1

I recently got my hands on the full DVD set of Red vs. Blue so I felt I should share what I thought of it with you, the interweb! First off, the Remastered edition has the entire video taking up all of the screen without those black bars on the top and bottom of the screen that usually cut off most of the video. This made it much cleaner and easier to watch, and downright more enjoyable.

So the last time I spoke of this, we got a simple introduction of the characters: there's a Red Team and a Blue Team in the middle of a boxed canyon and they're fighting each other. The Red Team's rookie, Donut has accident secured the Blue Team's flag and Caboose team kills Church with the tank, Sheila. Church returns as a ghost to warn the Blue's not to bring someone named Tex to the canyon to get involved. However, Tucker and Caboose have already hired Tex through Blue Command to help secure the Blue Flag from the Reds. Tex is successful but is captured...and a girl!! A badass girl, I might mention. Church mounts a rescue mission and Tex is saved. Back at the Blue Base, Tex asks for help in destroying the AI she received in her Freelancer training and repairs Sheila to mount an attack on the Reds. Church attempts to warn the Reds of the attack, but ends up possessing their robot who only speaks Spanish. Donut, who was previously wounded by Tex via plasma grenade, gets his revenge by chucking a grenade across the canyon right into the driver canopy of Sheila, killing Tex. With her last breath, Tex thanks Church for ridding her of the AI...but something seems off with Caboose...

At first look, Red vs. Blue seemed like a foolish series that was just going to be about pointless laughs. As much as I love that about it, the story has only just begun. This series has proven to be an in depth plot conflict with more twists and characters to come. The random jokes and crazy lines are what make this series one of the best things I've ever seen!

Stay tuned for my review of season 2.
