Review of Red vs Blue Episode 1 "Why Are We Here?"

Rooster Teeth's machinima series started back in 2003, and what great progress it has made since then. Using Halo's multiplayer function, the guys at Rooster Teeth made the first episode that started their trek to greatness.

The first episode gives us a little introduction to the series as well as 5 of the main characters: Tucker and Church of the Blue Team and Simmons, Grif and Sarge of the Red Team. Both teams are stationed inside a boxed canyon with no way in or out and the two team are caught in a never ending battle of...for a lack of a better term, wits and skill? Would those be the right adjectives to describe them?

Anyway, right off the bat, Grif goes into a rant about his own existence are Simmons poses a simple question "why are we here?". Simmons is confused at Grif's answer and remarks that he only meant why are they in the box canyon. Add in a one liner about Master Chief and this series is already doing well with humor.

The point of view then switches to that of Tucker and Church, the two members of the Blue Team who are spying on the Red Team with the sniper rifle, something that Tucker complains about never getting to use. Church and Tucker immediately fight about what the Reds are doing, something that will set up future tension and arguments between the two...teammates.

The scene switches back to the Red Base as Sarge arrives and orders Grif and Simmons to come down from the base.

A relatively good start to the Red vs. blue series but trust me, there is more greatness to come.
